Deriv demo account practice and what changes on real
How to use Deriv demo account practice with BancaBot signals and bots, what the virtual balance teaches you, and what genuinely changes when you switch to real money.
Deriv demo account practice means trading the same markets, the same contract types and the same tools you would use on real money, with a virtual balance instead of your own. Everything BancaBot does works on a demo account: the signals, the digit analyzer, the Auto Trader and the bots from Bot Forge. You sign in with your Deriv account, pick the demo balance, and run the tool as if it counted. The only thing missing is the money, and that turns out to be the part that changes most when you switch.
A demo account is the sensible place to start
When you sign in with Deriv through the OAuth screen, both your real and demo accounts come through. BancaBot asks for trading permission only, which lets it read the account balance and place trades. It cannot withdraw and cannot move money, and it never sees your Deriv password. You choose which balance is active, so a demo session is a matter of selecting the demo account before you start.
On demo you can load a bot, watch it take twenty trades, and see exactly how it behaves after a losing run without paying for the lesson. You can open the digit analyzer, sit with it for an hour and learn to read the cards before you act on any of them. None of that costs anything, and the signals, the analyzer and the free bot library are free to use anyway.
What the virtual balance actually teaches
Demo is good at mechanics and honest about logic. It is not good at telling you how you will feel.
Things demo teaches well:
- How to sign in, switch accounts and check which balance is active before a trade goes out.
- What a signal looks like on screen and what reasoning sits behind it.
- How a bot behaves across a long run, including what it does after several losses in a row.
- Where the stop loss and target live in Auto Trader, and what happens when one of them is reached.
- Which markets you can follow and which move faster than you can think, such as the one second volatility indices.
Things demo cannot teach:
- Whether you will hold to a loss limit when the money is yours.
- Whether you will stop after the target is hit or set a new one.
- Whether you will size your stake the same way when the balance is real.
Practise with each tool, not just with the market
Each part of BancaBot has its own learning curve, and demo is where you get through it.
The AI Signals screen shows one call per market with the reasoning behind it. On demo, the useful exercise is not taking every signal. It is reading the reasoning, deciding in advance what you would do, and then seeing what happened. That teaches you which markets you can follow and which you should leave alone.
The Digit Trader and digit analyzer read the last digits of Deriv's synthetic indices and show one pick for the next tick, with every card that led to it. Digit contracts resolve fast, so demo is where you learn how fast that is and whether you can keep up.
The Auto Trader places trades from the signals and stops at the limits you set, including a loss limit and a target. Set those limits on demo first. Watch the run end when a limit is reached. That is the behaviour you are buying into, and it is better to see it with virtual money.
Bot Forge is a block based builder with a library of free bots you can load, change and run. It reads bot files from the older builders, so an XML file you already have will open. Load a free bot on demo, let it run, and read what each block does while it does it.
Demo and real compared
| What you are testing | Demo account | Real account |
|---|---|---|
| Markets available | Deriv's markets, including volatility indices, forex and gold | The same markets |
| Contract types | Rise and fall, higher and lower, digit contracts | The same contract types |
| Tools | Signals, analyzer, Auto Trader, bots | The same tools |
| Balance | Virtual, replaceable | Your own money, and it can be lost |
| Discipline | Untested | Tested on every trade |
What changes the day you switch to real
The screen looks the same. The signals read the same, the analyzer shows the same cards, the bot runs the same blocks. What changes is you. Trading loses money for many people, and a real balance makes every hesitation and every override expensive in a way a demo balance never is.
Three things are worth doing on the day you switch:
- Check the account selector before the first trade. The most common mistake on switching day is running a real session while thinking it is demo, or the reverse.
- Cut your stake to something you would be relaxed about losing entirely, and leave it there for a while. The demo stake was never a real decision.
- Set the loss limit and the target in Auto Trader before you start, and do not touch them mid session. The limit only means something if it is fixed before the session, not during it.
Demo is not a rehearsal you finish
Traders often treat demo as a phase to graduate from. It works better as a room you keep going back to. Any new bot, any changed block, any market you have not traded before, any setting you have not used: run it on demo first. The account stays there, the switch takes seconds, and a bot that does something unexpected does it for free.
The same applies to anything you change in a bot you already trust. One altered block can change how the whole thing behaves after a loss, and demo is where you find that out.
Nothing here is financial advice, and no tool decides for you. The signals and the analyzer show a read and the reasoning behind it, and the trade is your call.

Questions
Does BancaBot work on a Deriv demo account?
Yes. When you sign in with Deriv, both your real and demo accounts come through, and you choose which balance is active. The signals, the digit analyzer, the Auto Trader and the bots from Bot Forge all run on demo exactly as they do on real. A demo account is the sensible place to start.
How do I switch between my demo and real Deriv account?
You select the account in the app before you start a session, and the balance shown tells you which one is active. Check it before the first trade of every session, because a bot will run happily on whichever account is selected. The guide on creating a Deriv account covers opening, verifying and switching between the two.
How long should I practise on demo before trading real money?
There is no set period, and anyone who gives you one is guessing. A more useful test is whether you have seen your bot or your routine go through a losing run and know how it behaves, and whether you stuck to your own limits without changing them. Trading loses money for many people, so move only the amount you would be comfortable losing.
Can I test a bot file from Binary Bot or DBot on demo?
Yes. Bot Forge reads bot files from the older builders, so an existing XML file will load, and you can run it on a demo balance first. That is the safest way to check what an inherited or downloaded bot actually does before it touches real money.
Trading on Deriv puts your money at risk, and automation does not change that. Practise on a demo account first and only trade money you can afford to lose.
